Patsy Sutton
Patsy Sutton became well known in Arkansas when as the wife of Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Eddie Sutton she took on a project.
Darrell Walker.
Darrell was out of the meanest projects in Chicago. By his own admission he stepped over more than one dead body in a door way growing up.
He came to Arkansas after a year in junior college and had trouble with directions. Like how to get from one class to the other.
He was also something of a scrapper and fighter.
In stepped Patsy and according to Darrell, she helped him grow up.
Patsy was always the quiet reinforcement behind Eddie. When he had struggles with alcoholism it was she who was there with him every hour. She was a great lady.
Today, Patsy went to be the Lord. Remember her family in prayer.
She will be missed by many, but none more than her husband, sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.
I am always grateful for the work behind the scenes that goes on and never recognized. Wally, you have done a great service to many by bringing to the forefront what Patsy did. It was not limited to Darrell. We will all be forever grateful for the impact she had on the Razorback community. Thank you Patsy.
Thanks for that Wally. The regular media will oft times over look news like this because she was one of the good people and good things are oft over looked. It doesn’t sell enough ads.
God be with the family as you reluctantly allow her the final reward.
Patsy Sutton and I became close when Rob and I became part of the OSU family in 1990. She and I shared many interests spending endless hours antiquing, exploring Oklahoma museums and making early morning workouts on campus before arrival of team members. I am most grateful for lessons learned thru observation and conversations with Patsy on the finer points of being a head coach’s wife…such lessons I’ve paid forward.
Rob and I send our love, prayers and heart felt sympathies to Coach Sutton and entire family on their profound loss.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Evans
